Days Bay, Eastbourne is on the eastern side of Wellington Harbour and is easily reached by road which follows the harbour shoreline, or by local ferry. The harbour will be visible on your right for much of the route.
Estimated travel time from Days Bay to:- Wellington City CBD = 20 minutes
- Inter-island ferry terminal =20 minutes
- Airport = 35-40 minutes
- From State Highway 1 - approaching Ngauranga interchange, turn left onto State Highway 2 and follow signs for Hutt Valley or Petone. Exit at the Petone over-ramp (first exit) and follow signs to Seaview, Eastbourne, or Eastern Bays. At Days Bay turn left into Moana Road by the Cobar restaurant, then right into Huia Road.
- From Wellington - join the Wellington Motorway to Petone and Hutt Valley. Exit at the Petone over-ramp then proceed as above.
- From the Wairarapa - travel on State Highway 2 towards Petone and drive to Petone Esplanade. Follow signs to Seaview, Eastbourne, or Eastern Bays, then proceed as above.
- The East by West ferry runs daily sailings between Days Bay and Queens Wharf in central Wellington. Queens Wharf is a 5-10 minute walk from Te Papa National Museum, The Stadium, Wellington Visitor Information, Central Business District and shopping, public cable car to the Cable Car Museum and Botanical Gardens.
- Metlink run regular bus services between Eastbourne, Petone, Wellington City (Route 81, +83) and Lower Hutt (83)
- Taxi or door to door shuttle bus is available from the airport.
